Free Work
What is Free Work?
Free Work is a low-impact, enrichment-based activity designed to help dogs build confidence, improve body awareness, and reduce stress. By allowing your dog to explore a carefully designed environment at their own pace, Free Work helps them process sensory information, release tension, and develop greater trust in their surroundings and handlers.
Who is Free Work for?
Free Work is beneficial for all dogs but is especially valuable for:
-
Anxious or reactive dogs needing a safe and controlled way to process their environment.
-
Puppies developing coordination and confidence in new situations.
-
Senior dogs or those with mobility challenges who benefit from gentle mental and physical engagement.
-
Performance or working dogs to improve body awareness and movement efficiency.
-
Dogs recovering from injury as a non-intrusive way to support rehabilitation.
What to expect in a Free Work session?
Each session is tailored to your dog’s individual needs and includes:
-
A thoughtfully arranged space with different textures, surfaces, and objects for your dog to explore.
-
The opportunity to move freely without pressure, allowing them to engage in natural behaviours.
-
Observations on movement patterns, posture, and comfort levels to help inform training and support well-being.
-
Guidance on how to incorporate Free Work into your routine at home.
