Equipment & Training Methodology

At Serenity Scent Work, we use positive reinforcement-based training methods to ensure a rewarding and stress-free experience for your dog.

Please have your dog on a flat collar or back-attach harness only – other equipment (e.g., front-attach harnesses, head halters, or correction collars) can inhibit your dog’s willingness and/or ability to search effectively. 

Our focus is on building confidence, motivation, and teamwork in a way that supports your dog’s natural abilities and well-being.

Booking & Cancellation Policy

6-Week Courses (K9 Nose Work & Other Multi-Week Courses)

• These courses are purchased as a set.

• No refunds or makeup classes will be provided if any classes cannot be attended.

• If you arrive late, missed runs will not be made up.

• Clients are encouraged to prioritise class times in advance to ensure they can attend all sessions.

• If Serenity Scent Work cancels a session, a reschedule will be offered.

Mantrailing Intro Workshops & Progression Sessions

• Clients may reschedule their booking up to 24 hours before the session via their online profile.

• No refunds are provided for cancellations or no-shows (clients who fail to attend the correct day, time, or location).

• If Serenity Scent Work cancels a session, a reschedule will be offered.

• ​If you arrive late, missed runs will not be made up.

Free Work Sessions

• Clients may reschedule their Free Work session up to 24 hours before the session.

• If Serenity Scent Work cancels a session, a reschedule will be offered.

• No refunds are provided for cancellations or no shows.

Online Programs (e.g., Snake Avoidance)

• No refunds are offered once login details have been provided.
   

Hot Weather Policy

• If temperatures exceed 30°C during scheduled class times, Serenity Scent Work may reschedule the session for the safety of both dogs and handlers.

• Clients will be notified as soon as possible if a session is being rescheduled due to hot weather conditions.
   

Liability Waiver

By participating in any Serenity Scent Work training, workshops, or events (including K9 Nose Work, Mantrailing, and Free Work sessions), I acknowledge and accept the following:

1. I understand that k9 Nose Work, Free Work and Mantrailing activities involve physical movement and varying terrain, which may pose risks to both handlers and dogs.

2. I assume full responsibility for any risks, injuries, or damages that may occur as a result of participation.

3. I confirm that both myself and my dog are in good health and fit to participate in training activities. If I have any concerns about my dog’s health, I will consult a veterinarian before attending.

4. I waive and release Serenity Scent Work, its trainers, employees, and affiliates from any and all claims, liabilities, or damages that may arise, except in cases of gross negligence or misconduct.

5. If at any time I believe conditions to be unsafe for myself or my dog, I will discontinue participation.
    

Photography Release (Optional – Clients may opt out in writing)

I grant Serenity Scent Work permission to use photos or videos of me and/or my dog for promotional purposes, including websites, social media, and marketing materials. No financial compensation will be provided. If I do not wish to be included in photos or videos, I will notify Serenity Scent Work in writing.
 

Veterinary Communication & Confidentiality

I authorize Serenity Scent Work to communicate with my veterinarian as necessary for my dog’s training plan. My dog’s personal and medical information will remain confidential and will only be shared with third parties with my permission.
 

Changes to This Policy

Serenity Scent Work reserves the right to update this policy as needed. Any changes will be communicated to clients.
